I live in Michigan too and do not have any of the problems you mentioned with the choke. I have installed a Supertrapp and the carb mod. I have had problems with the (in my opinion) crappy NGK plugs. I had one foul out completly with only 400 miles. Just installed the next hotter plug and so far so good. If anyone has done the research to cross plug to a Bosch or other brand I would be interested in the number. You may have got some bad gas, if so run a small amout of carb cleaner/gas dry and should take care of it. Good luck. John
